Link in bio
How to add a link to your TikTok bio (and what to do without 1,000 followers)
Where the website field is, why some accounts don't see it, what a business account changes, and how to check that your TikTok bio link actually works.
To add a link to your TikTok bio, open your profile in the TikTok app, tap Edit profile and paste the full address into the Website or Links field, then save. If you don't see that field, your account is probably not eligible yet: guides commonly report it from 1,000 followers on personal accounts, and earlier for business accounts. A URL typed into the bio text itself is never clickable.
Step by step: add the link
- 1
Open your profile and tap Edit profile
In the TikTok app, go to your profile tab. Edit profile is usually directly under your name and follower count.
- 2
Find the Website or Links field
It sits among the profile fields such as name, username and bio. Its exact label has changed between app versions.
- 3
Paste the complete address
Use the full address of the page you want to share, for example
openout.app/yourname. Check for spaces or a doubledhttps://after pasting. - 4
Save, then test as a visitor
Leave the editor, then open your profile from a second account or device and tap the link. A link that looks fine in edit mode can still be wrong.
Why can't I see the website field?
The usual reason is eligibility. Third-party guides consistently report a 1,000 follower threshold for personal accounts. Most of them also report that a business account can add a website earlier, though at least one says both are required. Some accounts also see the field later than others, and the feature is not available in every region.
- Update the app. An outdated version can hide or rename profile fields.
- Check the account type. Personal, creator and business accounts can see different profile options.
- Check age and region. Account restrictions and regional availability can remove the field.
- Look again after a change. After switching account type or passing a follower milestone, the field may not appear immediately.
Under 1,000 followers: your options
Option 1: switch to a business account
Many creators report that switching to a business account unlocks the website field before 1,000 followers. The switch is usually found under Settings and privacy → Account. Before you do it, check what changes for your account: business accounts can have a different selection of sounds available for videos, which matters if you rely on trending music. If the field still doesn't appear after switching, don't assume it will — eligibility is TikTok's decision.
Option 2: write the address as plain text
You can put your page address in your bio text or mention it in a video. It won't be clickable, so viewers have to type or copy it. Keep it short and easy to read aloud — openout.app/yourname is easier than a long shop URL with tracking parameters.
Option 3: send viewers to a profile that has a link
If your Instagram or YouTube profile already has a link, you can point TikTok viewers there. Every extra step loses some of them, so treat this as a stopgap rather than a plan.
The link is there, but it doesn't work
| Symptom | Check first |
|---|---|
| The address shows as plain text | It was typed into the bio text instead of the Website / Links field. |
| Tapping it does nothing | Test from another account; your own profile in edit mode is not a visitor's view. |
| TikTok rejects or warns about the link | Record the exact message and the address. Check TikTok's support pages and appeal options rather than swapping domains to avoid it. |
| It opens, but the wrong page loads | Compare the saved address with the intended one, including redirects and query parameters. |
| It opens, but sign-in or checkout fails | That page is running in TikTok's in-app browser. Test the same step in Safari or Chrome. |
The longer version of this troubleshooting, for every platform, is in link in bio not working? A checklist.
What happens when a viewer taps your link
Even with the link in place, a tap usually opens the website inside TikTok's own browser view, not in Safari or Chrome. For a simple page that's fine. For a sign-in, a subscription or a checkout, the visitor's saved sessions, passwords and payment methods may not be available there. How to open a TikTok link in Safari or Chrome explains the manual route; the TikTok in-app browser page covers what changes between iPhone and Android.
One link, many destinations
Because the profile has a single website field, most creators point it at a link page rather than at one shop or video. Put the thing your latest video promised first, keep the rest short, and test the page from inside TikTok before a campaign. A link in bio for TikTok on OpenOut is free to start; browser guidance for in-app visitors is on the Pro plan.
Frequently asked questions
How do I put a link in my TikTok bio?
Open your profile in the TikTok app, tap Edit profile and paste the full address into the Website or Links field, then save. Text typed into the bio itself is not clickable.
Do you need 1,000 followers to add a link on TikTok?
For personal accounts, guides commonly report a 1,000 follower threshold. Business accounts can often add a website earlier, but eligibility varies by account and region, so check your own Edit profile screen.
Why is my TikTok bio link not clickable?
Most often the address was typed into the bio text rather than the Website or Links field. Also test from another account: your own profile in edit mode isn't how visitors see it.
Can I add more than one link to my TikTok bio?
The profile has one website field. To offer several destinations, point that field at a link page that lists them.
